A First for Bastrop

Experience Beautiful Bastrop Race through history, nature, and the heart of one of Texas’ most welcoming towns.

On Sunday, January 31, 2027, Bastrop holds its first multi-distance race day. Cool late-January air, the Colorado River at your side, the Lost Pines overhead, and a finish line in the heart of one of the prettiest small downtowns in Texas. Whether this is your first ever finish line or your next marathon, there is a distance here for you, and every one of them ends downtown. Run the river. Run the pines. Finish downtown.

Choose Your Distance

Four ways to race one morning.

Full Marathon

Two Laps · 7:00 AM Start · 6 Hour Cutoff

The full journey. Two laps of the big loop: from Fisherman's Park through historic downtown, beneath the State Highway 71 underpass, and out along a quiet, tree lined out and back through Tahitian Village before turning for home. Then you do it again. Course closes at 1:00 PM (about 13:44 per mile).

Half Marathon

One Lap · Morning Start

One lap of the same course the marathoners run twice: river, downtown, the underpass, and the Tahitian Village out and back, finishing downtown. A strong goal race or a natural step up from the 10K.

10K

Two Laps of the 5K Route · Morning Start

Two laps of our 5K route: out from Fisherman's Park through downtown, beneath the underpass, and back to the park pivot point before starting lap two. Then again. You know exactly what is coming on lap two, which makes this a smart course for chasing a time, and your crew gets to cheer you twice.

5K

Out and Back · Run or Walk

A friendly out and back: from Fisherman's Park through the historic streets of downtown Bastrop, beneath the State Highway 71 underpass to the turnaround at the halfway point, and back to the downtown finish. First timers, families, and walkers all cross the same finish line the marathoners do.

The Course

River, pines, and small town Texas.

Every distance starts and finishes at Fisherman's Park on the banks of the Colorado. The long course threads historic downtown, slips beneath State Highway 71 through the underpass, and rolls out along a quiet, tree lined out and back through Tahitian Village before turning for home. The 5K and 10K stay on the downtown side, out to their turnaround and back. No river crossings on any course, and every finish is downtown where the crowds are.

Good to Know

Plan your morning.

Early Start, Early Light

The marathon starts at 7:00 AM, just before sunrise. Reflective gear or a headlamp is recommended for the first miles of the full.

Marathon Cutoffs

Six hour limit with checkpoint cutoffs on course, including the start of lap two. A sweep vehicle follows the last eligible runner so roads reopen on schedule. Exact checkpoint times will be published before race day.

Spectators

Downtown is the place to be: the start, the finish, and lap traffic all pass through. Marshaled pedestrian crossings keep everyone safe. Please cross the course only at staffed points.

Our Neighbors

Portions of the course pass through the Tahitian Village neighborhood with marshaled, rolling traffic holds rather than all day closures. Residents keep access throughout, and we are grateful to the neighbors who share their streets with us.

Registration opens soon.

The date is set for January 31, 2027. Sign up for notifications.
