Hike: Potato Chip Rock

7.5 miles out and back | Hard Difficulty | Elevation Gain 2,130 feet | City of Poway, CA

Start the year with a climb and a view! Join us for a 7-mile challenging scenic hike up Mount Woodson to the iconic Potato Chip Rock — one of San Diego’s most famous photo spots. We’ll take in stunning lake and mountain views, get some fresh air, and snap a few fun photos at the top.

Safety Tips: Shade is extremely limited on this trail. Wear lightweight non-cotton clothing and head covering (hat). Use sunblock. Must carry 2L of water, coupled with electrolyte tablets. Wear a trail shoe with good traction. Bring a small backpack to carry your water, snacks, and other hiking essentials. Trekking poles recommended if you have them. Come prepared with a fully charged cellphone.
