Race for Rescue 5K/10K Supporting Coles County Animal Control Saturday, October 10, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. Start/Finish: Loxa Station – Mattoon, Illinois

Join us for the Race for Rescue 5K/10K, a fun, family-friendly event supporting Coles County Animal Control!

Participants will start at Loxa Station and follow the bike/running trail toward Charleston before turning around and returning to Loxa Station. The course follows the scenic trail and is designed to be enjoyed by runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.

This is a non-timed event, so there is no pressure to race the clock. Walk, jog, run, or simply enjoy the morning while supporting a great cause!

Adults and children are welcome to participate. Bring your family and friends and help us raise funds to provide care and support for animals at Coles County Animal Control.

Registration: $25, $35 day of event (runners registering day of event are not guaranteed a medal) Beneficiary: 100% of proceeds benefit Coles County Animal Control And, of course, our four-legged friends will be part of the fun! Shelter dogs from Coles County Animal Control will be present at the event, giving participants a chance to meet some of the animals they are helping.

After the race, we encourage you to visit Coles County Animal Control to meet more adoptable animals and learn how you can help support local shelter pets.
