Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k and Fun Run

Get ready to "scramble" through Buchanan for the second annual Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k and Fun Run. Our scenic race course will take you through our charming town and along the beautiful McCoy Creek Trail. You might even "catch" a glimpse of the migrating salmon along the course or at the finish line.

The Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k is part of the Michigan Fruit Belt Series. Our race is 1 of 10 that you may participate in. The Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k is a part of the Fleet Feet Mishawaka Race Series. Our race is one of 23 races in the Michiana area. All distances of the Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k and Fun Run will be professionally chipped timed by Watt's My Time. Race results will be provided to all participants upon completion of your timed event.

Finisher Medals and Swag:

Our finisher medals are crafted from salvaged wood and laser engraved by Douglas Walter. Our medals will be cherished symbols of recognition and appreciation of your hard work and support of the McCoy Creek Trail Organization.

Overall awards for top three male and female finishers in the Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k distance ONLY.

In order to keep our pricing reasonable and reduce excess waste, your registration will include: a race bib, finisher medal for all distances, and post race snacks. (Refreshments that will be provided: Water, Gatorade, fruit, and other snacks.)

Professional timing results will be recorded for all participants and all race distances.

Race Distances and Course Description:

Whether you are a beginner participating in your first 5k or working towards your personal best, we have something for everyone! We offer three race distance opportunities that will challenge you. Our course is a combination of road, paved trail, packed dirt, and grass. Some portions of the course are hilly but a great challenge to start your fall racing. We offer a 1.75 mile, 5k, or a challenge combo called the Prickly Pear.

The Prickly Pear is a challenge that combines the two race distances, creating one unforgettable event. This challenge will have limited registration and will require a 16 min/mile pace expectation to meet the challenge criteria. Participants of the Prickly Pear challenge will receive additional recognition with an add-on piece for their medals.

Packet Pickup and Parking:

Early pick-up will be available on Friday, October 23rd in the evening from 5-7 PM at the race location.

On race day, Saturday October 24th, packet pick-up starts at 7 AM at the race location.

If you are signed up for the Prickly Pear Challenge and/or the 1.75 mile run you must pickup your race packet from 7-7:45 AM. The 1.75 mile race and Prickly Pear Challenge both start at 8 AM.

If you are just running the Salmon Scramble Su-pear 5k, you'll need to plan to pick up your race packet beginning at 7 AM but no later than 8:30 AM. The 5k starts at 8:45 AM. Please plan accordingly.

Parking will be available at the Buchanan high school parking lot and side streets.
