The Great Escape: River Run from Crockett
The Great Escape: River Run from Crockett is a 14-mile, flat-water paddling race. It is held each October and commemorates the escape of the Muscogee residents of Black Warrior Town from Davie Crockett and the Tennessee Militia during the Creek Indian War. The course begins at the site of historic Black Warrior Town (present day Sipsey, Alabama) and ends at present day Cordova, Alabama near the site where Muscogee sought refuge.
